About Georgian Court University

Georgian Court University is a private Roman Catholic university located in Lakewood, which is a township in Ocean County, in the US state of New Jersey, with a population estimated at a number of more than 60 000 inhabitants, during the 2000 census. The institution was founded by the Sisters of Mercy, in 1908, and received university status from the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education in 2004.

Georgian Court currently has an enrollment of approximately 3000 undergraduate and postgraduate students, and offers more than 30 majors through two colleges: University College and Women's College. The university is widely known for its School of Education, which include bachelor and masters degrees, as well as many certifications in education, including concentrations in elementary school, secondary school, early childhood development and special education.
